{"id":1982,"date":"2017-05-26T11:22:41","date_gmt":"2017-05-26T17:22:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/migration.asb-latam.org\/?p=1982"},"modified":"2017-07-05T08:52:59","modified_gmt":"2017-07-05T14:52:59","slug":"las-personas-discapacidad-presentes-la-plataforma-global-reduccion-del-riesgo-desastres-la-unisdr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asb-latam.org\/en\/las-personas-discapacidad-presentes-la-plataforma-global-reduccion-del-riesgo-desastres-la-unisdr\/","title":{"rendered":"People with Disabilities Make Their Voices Heard at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; color: #333333;\">The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction organized by the UNISDR (United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction) and sponsored by the Government of Mexico, is the main forum at the global level for coordination, exchange of experiences and synergies, and above all, review of the implementation of international instruments on Disaster Risk Reduction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; color: #333333;\">This year the platform was held from May 22-26 in Cancun, Mexico, with the participation of more than 5 thousand people, including key government actors, both national and local, from civil society and the private sector. The main characteristic of this forum is that it facilitates dialogue between stakeholders.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; color: #333333;\">This was the first opportunity for the international community to review global progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, adopted in Japan in 2015, which includes for the first time the theme <strong>\"Inclusion in Disaster Risk Reduction\".<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia',serif; color: #333333;\">Our role on the platform<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; color: #333333;\">Within the framework of this global event, ASB, together with its strategic partners, carried out a communication campaign with the aim of raising awareness among key actors present about the imperative need to include people with disabilities in Disaster Risk Reduction.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; color: #333333;\">\"It is necessary and a priority that people with disabilities and older adults in Disaster Risk Reduction are included as<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">necessary protagonists<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>in the same conversation\" says David L\u00f3pez, President of the Association of the Blind of Nicaragua.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: start; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; word-spacing: 0px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia',serif; color: #333333;\">All of us<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; color: #333333;\">The \"All of Us\" campaign claim was used to refer to the<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">\u00a0<b>Key Disability Stakeholders Group<\/b><span style=\"color: #333333;\">, accompanied by the slogan \"for Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction\". <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\"All of Us\" includes women, men, with or without disabilities, of any ethnicity or religion, working towards the inclusion of people with disabilities in Disaster Risk Reduction.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; color: #333333;\">The impact on other campaigns was enhanced, because our delegation was made up of many disability organizations and networks, with the same objective and concept: to raise awareness among forum participants of the imperative need for<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">\u00a0<b>inclusive<\/b><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Disaster Risk Management, with a positive approach.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"btn btn-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/asb-latam.org\/en\/galeria\/plataforma-global-la-reduccion-del-riesgo-desastres-cancun-mexico\/\">Photo Gallery<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La Plataforma Global para la Reducci\u00f3n del Riesgo de Desastres organizada por la UNISDR (Oficina de las Naciones [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":1988,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[29,30,32,28,1],"tags":[31,33],"class_list":["post-1982","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-discapacidad","category-gestion-del-riesgo-de-desastres","category-gestion-inclusiva-del-riesgo","category-lenguaje-de-senas","category-sin-categoria","tag-gestion-inclusiva-del-riesgo","tag-mexicogp2017"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
