On Wednesday, October 20, 2021, ASB together with partner organizations launched the campaign called \"Resilience: looking back, making it better\",<\/strong> an initiative whose main objective is to raise awareness among decision makers, technicians, producers and farmers about the importance of drought risk management in the Central American dry corridor, as well as to strengthen key actors in risk prevention measures with good practices in the face of the effects of climate change.<\/p>\n

This campaign is part of the program \"Food Security for Populations Affected by Climate Change in Central America\", which is implemented by the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Deutschland e.V. (ASB Germany); Asociaci\u00f3n para la Cooperaci\u00f3n y el Desarrollo Comunal de El Salvador (CORDES); Centro de Desarrollo Humano (CDH) of Honduras; and Asociaci\u00f3n Regional Campesina Chorti (ASORECH) of Guatemala; with financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.<\/p>\n

The campaign includes communication strategies aimed at raising awareness and informing about the urgent need to bring about positive changes in practices that will enable better management of climate change and drought in Central America. To this end, advertisements and other resources with pertinent messages will be disseminated through social networks and traditional media in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala.<\/p>\n

As part of the campaign, the website \u00a0www.hacerlomejor.org<\/a>has been created, a space that offers specialized and timely information on the Central American Dry Corridor, such as studies, protocols, alternatives and good practices of local actors that generate positive transformations at the local, national and regional levels.<\/p>\n

As part of the campaign, four public virtual forums will be held under the name \"The Central American Dry Corridor is our habitat, Potentialities and challenges: Dialoguing drought from the rainy season\", spaces that will facilitate the participation of experts from the region, who will develop topics related to the impact of climate change in the region, while allowing the discussion and generation of relevant proposals from key actors, such as technical professionals, decision makers and inhabitants of the affected communities.<\/p>\n

Starting yesterday, October 20th with the thematic axis: \u00a0\"State of public policies in drought risk management\"\u00a0<\/strong>with the participation of Ms. Claudia Herrera, Executive Secretary of <\/span>with the participation of Ms. Claudia Herrera, Executive Secretary of the Coordination Centre for the Prevention of Disasters in Central America and the Dominican Republic - CEPREDENAC and Mr. Carlos Navarro of the International Biodiversity Alliance - CIAT, the campaign and the cycle of four forums on climate change and drought were launched.<\/p>\n

The thematic axes that will be developed in the four forums are the following:<\/p>\n
