ASB and FECONORI sign collaboration agreement 2020-2024
With this slogan, ASB and the Federation of Associations of People with Disabilities of Nicaragua (FECONORI) have signed today a collaboration agreement 2020-2024.
Today, ASB and the Federation of Associations of Persons with Disabilities of Nicaragua (FECONORI) signed a collaboration agreement 2020-2024 for the implementation of the regional program "Implementation of the Sendai Framework in Central America: Promoting a transnational approach to strengthen inclusion in disaster preparedness at regional, national and local levels". The program is financed by the German Cooperation (BMZ) and ASB's own funds.
The signing took place within the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3, 2020). This day was proclaimed in 1992, by the General Assembly of the United Nations. It is celebrated around the world, mobilizing support for critical issues related to the inclusion of persons with disabilities, promoting reflection on disability issues and drawing attention to the benefits of an inclusive and accessible society for all. On this day, UN agencies, civil society organizations, academic institutions and the private sector are encouraged to collaborate with organizations that support persons with disabilities in promoting inclusion in events and activities, as well as considering the voice and opinions of persons with disabilities.
ASB is committed, with this agreement, to highlight the importance of empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities in disaster risk reduction at local, national and regional levels in Latin America. Within the framework of the program developed between several Central American and international organizations, ASB strives to create an inclusive and equitable society for all, especially in emergency situations, respecting the motto "Nothing about us without us".
