With a text written for high school students in Central America, this book explains what Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction means in a stimulating and enjoyable way. It includes group and personal activities, as well as interactive exercises for the class. It is designed for a young audience, covering topics on the imperative need for inclusion of people with disabilities and older adults in disaster risk management.

This book explains the meaning of Inclusive Risk Reduction in an easy to understand and interactive way. The language used to describe disasters and emergencies is simple, through stories and children's tales, to ensure that children understand and are able to become aware of the subject. The contents of the book include interactive games, the context of disasters and emergencies in Central America, and the importance of including people with disabilities and older adults in integrated disaster risk management.

Disaster risk reduction has been rapidly evolving towards an inclusive approach that ensures that all people are taken into account and their particular needs are met in a proportionate and equitable manner.

The diagnosis was based on the standardized monitoring and evaluation methodology in emergency and transition situations (SMART). It was held in September 2016, that is, at the end of the period of seasonal hunger, in the municipalities of Jocotán, Camotán, Chiquimula, Zacapa, Cabañas and Huité in the departments of Zacapa and Chiquimula in Guatemala. A total of 465 children under 5 and their families were surveyed, a representative sample of 426 rural communities in 6 rural municipalities with 211,363 inhabitants, of whom 170,101 were children under 5.

It is the first handbook for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in disaster risk management published in Nicaragua. It was prepared by ASB, in coordination and with the active participation of the Nicaraguan Disability Cabinet and the Federation of Associations of Persons with Disabilities of Nicaragua (FECONORI), with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE).

The objective of this guide is to guide the participation of people with disabilities in disaster prevention, mitigation and care activities from their community, neighborhood and municipality.
