The first step into the future

The delivery of the seed capital is part of an overall economic strengthening component for the population of 12 municipalities in the Northern Triangle Trifinio of Central America, and is aimed at young people who are at risk of migrating due to the lack of income-generating opportunities and those with entrepreneurial ideas and desires.

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, the process of delivering seed capital to two local entrepreneurs in the municipality of Metapán, El Salvador took place. The delivery of the seed capital is part of a global component of the economic empowerment of the population of 12 municipalities in the Northern Triangle Trifinio of Central Americawhere the project is implemented, and specifically targets young people who are at risk of migration due to lack of income-generating opportunities and are keen on entrepreneurial ideas and desires.
The selected beneficiary enterprises underwent a technical advisory process, expanding their knowledge of market research, communication and administrative processes, among others, and presented a business plan that was evaluated by a panel of jurors coordinated at the municipal level. The process of training the entrepreneurs and delivering the seed capital was carried out in close coordination between the project partners, the Metapán mayor's office, the Trifinio Association of Municipalities, and the National Commission for Micro and Small Enterprises (CONAMYPE).

Two local Metapaneco businesses benefited this Tuesday. The two brothers Israel Alfonso Martínez Sandoval and Jorge Francisco Martínez, co-owners or co-proprietors of the venture "Martinez Handbags and Backpacks Factory". are engaged in the manufacture of backpacks, fanny packs and bags, among other products, as well as car and motorcycle seat tapestries. They received seed capital for the purchase of raw materials and machinery to strengthen their business.

Spouses Wilfredo Pacheco Aguilar and Consuelo Noemí Rodríguez Pacheco are the co-owners of “Arte Helado”a family business dedicated to the production and marketing of artisanal ice cream and popsicles. The seed capital provided is for the purchase of new machinery and the remodeling of its sales room to create a better atmosphere for its customers.

This activity is implemented within the framework of the project "Right to a self-determined and dignified life by strengthening the prospects of permanence in the country", financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Deutschland e. V (ASB) and implemented by Ayuda en Acción of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras and three partner institutions: the Salvadoran Migrant Institute (INSAMI), the Pastoral de Movilidad Humana of Guatemala (PMH) and the Christian Organization for the Integral Development of Honduras (OCDIH); with the participation and leadership of the Municipality of Metapán, through the municipal mayor Israel Peraza, the National Commission for Micro and Small Enterprises CONAMYPE and the Association of Municipalities Trifinio.
