Organization, mutual collaboration and commitment
The impact of the main activities developed with the project are evidenced by the active participation of the families.
At the end of March, the project "Sustainable income increase of the rural families in Nicaragua" , financed by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and ASB's own funds and executed by UNAG Estelí, was finalized. This project lasted two and a half years and provided assistance to 290 beneficiary families and, in addition, to active members of 12 local organizations, community seed banks and cooperatives focused on the municipalities of Condega and Pueblo Nuevo Estelí.
The organization, mutual collaboration, commitment and determination of each of the members of these organizations to achieve the proposed goals were the main motivation for creating installed capacities that would allow the producers to achieve, with the accompaniment of the project, the construction of their own infrastructure works of community seed bank warehouses. These works are enabled and equipped to improve post-harvest handling practices and also the storage and marketing of seeds and grains in the bean and corn sectors.
For Justo Pastor Mendoza /President of UNAG - Estelí, the impact of the main actions developed with the project are evident and are reflected in the active participation of the families, not only in the organizational processes, but also in each of the productive processes and the rural experimentation that took place, focused on improving, multiplying and protecting quality seeds and basic grains, available to the partners and producers of the strengthened organizations.
In the areas where the project took action, small symbolic closing ceremonies were held, such as the delivery and inauguration of 8 warehouses for community seeds and basic grains banks in the communities of El Espino, Los Cerritos, Santa Teresa, Darayli and Piedras Anchas in the municipality of Condega and in the communities of San Antonio, San Pedro, Son Cuan in the municipality of Pueblo Nuevo.
